Consultation meeting for RJ experts F15 The EFRJ will bring together experts in different areas/activities in the field of RJ for a consultation meeting in Leuven on 18 December. This meeting is reserved to members of the EFRJ (more info here): applications are open until 12 November! The EFRJ will cover most costs to participate in this event: more information on the EFRJ website. EFRJ Conference Tirana 2018 Our scientific committee is currently reviewing more than 80 abstract proposals received to present during the 10th international conference of the EFRJ (Tirana, 14-16 June 2018)! If you missed this opportunity, please note that a new deadline will be announced soon. This EFRJ conference is entitled Expanding the restorative imagination. Restorative justice between realities and visions in Europe and beyond. Workshop sessions will include presentations, training, panel discussions, film screenings, etc. on the three sub-themes (i.e. RJ in criminal justice, RJ in juvenile justice and RJ as a social movement). Please disseminate the poster of this event within your network! IJJO training on RJ and child victims Next week the EFRJ and KU Leuven will host a training on mediation and conferencing in cases involving child victims (Leuven, 8-9 November 2017). This training is part of the project ‘Implementing Restorative Justice with Child Victims’ coordinated by IJJO, the International Juvenile Justice Observatory, and financed by the EU Daphne Program. RJ WEEK 2017: coming soon!!! On the occasion of the international RJ WEEK 2017, many of you are organising events to raise awareness about RJ and celebrate this special week with our large RJ community. Find some events and ideas below and keep us informed if your event is not yet mentioned in the EFRJ calendar! #RJWeek Booklet on art and RJ The EFRJ will publish the booklet 'Restorative imagination: artistic pathways. Ideas and experiences at the intersection between art and restorative justice', a collection of articles on ideas and real projects using art as a communication tool or as an instrument for raising awareness in the field of RJ. The booklet will be available after 19 November on the EFRJ website. #RJWeek Leuven Restorative City Many events will take place in Belgium in the following weeks to celebrate the national prison week and the international RJ Week. In particular, as part of the project 'Leuven Restorative City', a network of organisations will offer a broad spectrum of activities, both for professionals and a large public, including workshops, trainings, films, a TEDx talk, all focusing on promoting innovative justice processes in society. #RJWeek Film A Conversation The EFRJ will organise some of the film screenings of 'A Conversation' (in Brussels and Leuven), a new film based on the meeting betwen two families after a case of rape and murder. Watch here the trailer of the film. More screenings will take place across Europe and beyond: indeed, the film has 15 subtitles thanks to the work done by the EFRJ membership. Moment of inspiration Artist Mark Bradford (US) and the social cooperative Rio Terà dei Pensieri (Italy) collaborate in the project Process Collettivo presented at the Biennale in Venice. The project raises awareness and promotes social partnership models which create employment opportunities for inmates and those who have recently returned to freedom. Products include bags, cosmetics, wallets and other accessories.
