International RJ WEEK

The RJ WEEK 2017 is coming soon (19-26 November)!
The EFRJ will publish a booklet on arts and RJ (for awareness, for communication purposes, etc.). We collect articles (1000-2000 words) until 1 October: please spread the voice beyond our membership!

Also, the EFRJ will launch the film 'A Conversation', a theatre performance played by No Theatre on a real meeting between two families who met after a case of rape and murder. Please consider to organise a film screening followed by a discussion in your own organisation (contact us for this)! The film will be subtitled in 12 different languages, thanks to our great EFRJ membership!
During the same week, our colleagues from KU Leuven will launch their RJ City project with a series of TEDx Talks on RJ (22 Nov), Moderator will organise its annual event Trefdag (23 Nov), Konfliktraadet will screen 'A Conversation' in 22 offices across Norway, in Italy three different events will take place in Rome, Sassari and Tempio Pausania... and you, what are you up to?

Article on music and RJ

Thanks to our colleagues from IIRP for disseminating a recent article published on the last EFRJ Newsletter, a special issue on arts and RJ! The author, Keisha Martinez, is an IIRP Graduate, a licensed music therapist and founder of Music Inspiring Change. In her article she explores how music therapy combined with restorative practices can help prison inmates and heal trauma. The EFRJ welcomes more articles on arts and RJ to be published in a small booklet by the RJ WEEK 2017 (deadline 1 October).

Video on RJ (in Italian)

For our Italian speaking community: on 24 August an event took place in Rimini entitled 'La giustizia riparativa. Prospettive'. The event was part of the Rimini's summer festival for friendship among peoples, organised by a lay Catholic movement, which every year brings together about 800.000 participants and 4.000 volunteers. A video of the entire meeting (1h 34m) has been published online.

The Listening Room

The theatre performance 'The Listening Room' features the true stories of five people whose lives have been transformed by a single violent crime. Years after trial and punishment, each one of them was given the chance to meet the person on the other side. On 14-30 September at the Theatre Royal Stratford East (London) you can see what happened when they said yes. The authors will also contribute to the booklet on arts and RJ that the EFRJ will publish for the RJ WEEK.
