Coming soon! RJ Week 2018 The international RJ Week (18-25 November 2018) is approaching! Do not forget to inform us about your local initiative to raise awareness about RJ! We will give it visibility on the EFRJ calendar and share it on our social media (#rjweek). If you wish to receive some materials (short video and postcards) to use them as part of your event, please fill in the online form on the bottom of this page. Registrations still open The EFRJ team is co-organising the conference on RJ and child victims (Brussels, 7 December) organised within the framework of the EU funded project "Implementing Restorative Justice with Child Victims" coordinated by the International Juvenile Justice Observatory. Registration is free and still open! Launch event in the Netherlands The organisation "K.I.N.D. – Kind, Ouder & Detentie" will be launched during the #rjweek (Utrecht, 22 November). Bart Claes (treasurer of the EFRJ Board) is one of the founders of this center focusing on the relationship between parents in detention and their children, who are in need of information, good support and customized care. Registration is free but compulsory. RJ Day in Switzerland The 2nd RJ Day at Fribourg University in Switzerland is entitled "Change of view: RJ in cases of serious offences" (8 February 2019). EFRJ members Vince Mercer (UK), Clara Rigoni (Germany) and Claudia Christen Schneider (Swiss Forum for RJ) are among the speakers. Get more information here. On the same topic the EFRJ will organise a training in French led by Antonio Buonatesta (Brussels, April 2019): more info will follow! Bulgarian blog on RJ Look into this RJ blog for Bulgarian readers: the blog includes resources, articles and news (like the information about the screening of the film "A Conversation" at the Sofia Regional Court on 27 September). If you wish to contribute or know more contact, Elena Evstatieva at restoration_bg@yahoo.com New book: "Criminal Injuries Compensation" A new book on compensation for crime victims, written by David Miers, will be published in the following weeks. Part II deals with offender compensation and specifically with the opportunities for compensation that RJ can offer. EFRJ members can contact us to receive the promocode with 30% discount. Conference on family justice centers Register before 8 November to the conference ''One safe place for Hope and Empowerment'' of the EFCJA- European Family Justice Center Alliance (Paris, 15-16 November). The EFRJ signed a memorandum of understanding with this alliance in June. The conference will cover a lot of topics that belong to domestic and gender-based violence. Our Director Edit Torzs will attend the conference on behalf of the EFRJ. IIRP World Conference in Detroit The IIRP World Conference will be held in Detroit, USA, on 24-26 October. The conference, entitled "Strengthening the Spirit of Community", explores topics such as school reforms, neighborhood conflicts, community health, family issues, youth change. Registrations close on 26 October. RJ event in Germany Our German organisational member TOA is busy with the organisation of its 17th Forum for Victim-Offender-Mediation and Restorative Justice (Berlin 7-9 November) entitled "The strength of the participants: Self-determination instead of needs". The EFRJ team will be represented by our colleague Laura Hein. Among the international speakers, you will find Tim Chapman, Petra Sampers and Belinda Hopkins. Moment of inspiration A French movie just came out on 3 October. The movie is called 'En mille morceaux' and it shows the meeting between a mother and an offender 25 years after the rape and assassination of the mother's son. The film is supported by our organisational member, "Institut Français pour la Justice Restaurative". Get more info and watch the trailer here.
