| European Restorative Justice Award 2014 |
|
After Ivo Aertsen (2010) and Martin Wright (2012), the EFRJ is pleased to announce the winner of the RJ Award 2014: Christa Pelikan from Austria. The ceremony took place in Belfast on Friday 13 June before the conference dinner. It may not be sufficient to say that Christa "was – and still is – extremely influential in the development of a European Restorative Justice": read here the speech given by the current chair of the EFRJ Board, Dr. Michael Kilchling.
You can find here more info on the previous RJ Awards.

|
While new Board members have been elected, three others have been thanked for their commitment to the EFRJ during the conference in Belfast:
- Aarne Kinnunen (Finland): Aarne was also one of the six candidates and he has been re-elected to stay on Board. - Katrien Lauwaert (Belgium): officially, Katrien left the Board last year, when she was selected to be the coordinator of the EFRJ project "Desistance and RJ". - Eleonore Lind (Sweden): Eleonore promised to continue to share her experience in training and mediation with the EFRJ team (i.e. the EFRJ project "Accessibility and Initiation of RJ").
Another loud THANK YOU goes to our previous Executive Officer, Monique Anderson (UK), who will soon start her PhD at the Leuven Institute for Criminology (Faculty of Law, KULeuven). Monique promised to keep an eye on the EFRJ whenever this will be needed.

Daniel Reisel: The Neuroscience of Restorative Justice
TED Talk - While researching the roots of human morality, Daniel Reisel focuses his interest on the brains of criminal psychopaths and he wonders: "If the brain can grow new neural pathways after an injury … could we help the brain re-grow morality?" Reisel suggests RJ as a way to help offenders to rehabilitate.
