EFRJ Conference & AGM 2016- UPDATED PROGRAMME!

The 9th international conference of the EFRJ will take place in Leiden, The Netherlands on 22-24 June 2016. If you did not register yet, keep in mind that registrations will close on 1 June! Please have a look at the updated programme, including abstracts and biographies of our plenary speakers: workshop sessions will be announced soon! Members of the EFRJ are also invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the EFRJ on 21 June in Leiden! |

| Inter-regional seminar in Istanbul! |
| Registration is still open for the event 'The East meeting the West: Ideas on the development of Restorative Justice' (Istanbul, 5-7 September 2016). This is a joint initiative of the EFRJ and the Asia Pacific Forum for RJ, with the support of Istanbul Bilgi University, to bring together participants from the field of RJ practice, research or policy making from 'the East and the West'. The deadline for submitting your abstract is 31 May. A special event will take place on 5 September with the annual lecture of the Restorative Justice: An International Journal, ‘Comparative Lessons from Europe and Asia on Reconciliation, Forgiveness and Peace’ by John Braithwaite. |

| RJ events in Italy |
|
At the end of April, our Northern Irish Board Member Tim Chapman attended some of the RJ events taking place in Sassari and Rome (Italy). In this occasion, Chapman intervened talked about RJ and restorative practices that aim at creating a culture of responsibility, respect and community justice. The International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) is happy to share the IIRP's DVD collection with the public! DVDs will be accessible online, starting with the most popular titles: Burning Bridges and Beyond Zero Tolerance. This is a good way to enhance practitioners' restorative skills, encourage further professional development, and raise awareness about RJ in practice.

| Report on RJ and sexual misconducts |

|
The Campus PRISM Project (Promoting Restorative Initiatives for Sexual Misconduct) released a new report highlighting potential of RJ to address sexual misconduct on college campuses. The international team of researchers and practitioners invested in reducing sexual and gender-based violence by exploring how a restorative approach may provide more healing and better accountability. | WMO's symposium 2016 |
| The Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC) and the World Mediation Organization (WMO), in collaboration with George Mason University Korea (GMUK), will host the 10th Annual WMO Symposium in Bangkok (Thailand) on 23-26 August 2016. The theme for this year’s symposium is 'Mediation, the Language of Peaceful Communication and Conflict Resolution'. This symposium is designed to attract leading professionals, academics and scholars interested in mediation and conflict resolution from across the world. |

Fixers is a charity in the UK that gives young people aged 16 to 25 a voice and supports them to tackle the issues that matter the most to them by developing their own campaign (e.g. producing films, posters, games or lesson plans). In this case, two youngsters created a short film on restorative justice entitled 'A kind of justice' (2013).
