| Article on RJ in homicide cases |
Mark Austin Walters' recent article: " ‘I THOUGHT “HE’S A MONSTER”… [BUT] HE WAS JUST… NORMAL’ Examining the Therapeutic Benefits of Restorative Justice for Homicide" suggests that restorative dialogue may help family members of homicide to better understand the meaning of loss, most significantly by allowing participants to ask previously unanswered questions. Data include four interviews which took place six months after the restorative meeting with the stakeholders of the murder of a young gay man. The article argues that the state must do more to support family members of homicide victims by creating a ‘trauma-informed’ system of justice that operates in parallel to the conventional justice processes. |

In his talk, Tarek Alsalehexplains how he started to use capoeira to bring together thousands of vulnerable youngsters every year to dance and play in the Middle East. In capoeira there are no winners or losers: is it such a surprise that it may be used to encourage equality, tolerance and dignity in conflicting societies?
