International RJ Week 2015
  On 18 November, the EFRJ is dedicating an entire afternoon to celebrate the RJ Week 2015Activities will include the Norwegian theatre play on RJ 'A Conversation', the presentation of the book 'Hotel Pardon' followed by a panel discussion, the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the EFRJ and finally the screening of the film 'Beyond Punishment'. Conference on RJ in intercultural settings
 
The final conference of the ALTERNATIVE project will take place at KU Leuven on 16-18 November 2015. This EU funded project dealt with the possible use of RJ approaches in conflicts in intercultural settings and aimed at proposing 'alternative' measures to increase justice and security in Europe. Interactive day on RJ and diversity
During the international RJ Week 2015, on 20 November the Flemish mediation cntre Suggnome' will organise a day on RJ and diversity in Leuven (Belgium), 'Conflicthantering op maat van het individu, diversiteit als uitgangspunt'. The event will gather together about 100 mediators, magistrates, counselors, students, or any other interested person in this topics. Findhere the flyer of the event (in Dutch only). 
 
Courses for (a restorative) professional development
The International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) Europe is organising the following courses for professional development during the RJ Week 2015: 'Restorative Leadership Development: Authority with Grace', Amsterdam 16-17 November 2015. Register here! and 'Restorative Responses to Adversity and Trauma', Amsterdam, 18-19 November 2015. Register here!
 
 
 
The Peacemaker of the Year Award
On 18 November, during the international RJ Week 2015, the 4th Annual IARS Research and Youth Leadership Awards 2015will take place in London to celebrate, empower and reward remarkable young people and their initiatives. Among others, the 'Peacemaker of the Year Award' is for a young person (aged 13-25) who demonstrates that his/her activities have made a positive impact in the community, supported victims of crime to overcome troubling life experiences, or promoted the use of restorative justice principles and practices for reducing conflicts and harm. Submit your nomination by 30 October!
 
National Restorative Justice Symposium

The National Restorative Justice Symposium is the most important gathering of practitioners involved in the development of restorative justice in Canada where numerous national and international researchers and partners will come together. It will take place during the RJ WEEK 2015, on 16-17 November in Québec City. More info here.

 
 
 
Basic Resource Kit- RJ WEEK 2015 

  The Basic Resource Kit put together by the Correctional Service Canada in occasion of the RJ WEEK 2015 is ready! It contains articles, but also a list of recently published books, articles and films as well as relevant websites for anyone interested in RJ. Contact CSC to receive an electronic copy!
 
 
 
Campaign ‘I’ve got something to say’- RJ WEEK 2015
 

The Ministry of Justice in the UK launched the awareness campaign 'I've got something to say' to celebrate the RJ WEEK 2015. This follows the success of last year's campaign 'What would you do?’. A range of materials including posters and digital assets will be available to download soon.

 
 
 
 
Foundation Skills for facilitating a restorative conference

The University of Ulster is delivering an intensive course offering participants the opportunity to learn the skills to facilitate a restorative conference (2-6 November). It includes training for engaging and preparing people who have been harmed or have harmed, their supporters and the community.More information in this flyer

 
 
 
Restorative Approaches Training Course
There are only few places left for the 'Restorative Approaches Training Course' (Berkshire UK, 5-9 October 2015). The focus of this course is on educational and youth settings, including those working in and with schools specialist support units and care homes, in children and family services and in youth justice environments. More info here.
 
Conference on innovative justice and penal reforms

The conference 'Justice and Penal Reform: Re-shaping the penal landscape' will take place in Oxford on 16-18 March 2016. This conference forms part of the symposium 'What is Justice? Re-imagining penal policy' that seeks innovative ideas for reducing the number of victims of crime, diminishing the role for prison and creating safer communities.

Restorative justice and the judiciary information pack

  The Restorative Justice Council has published an information pack on restorative justice for the judiciary. The pack helps sentencers to understand restorative justice, the benefits it can bring to all parties involved in a crime and the role that the judiciary can play in the process. As well as providing information on restorative justice and its use in sentencing, the pack features articles, resources and the voices of victims and offenders who have taken part in a restorative justice process. You can download the pack here.
 
 
 
RJ for sexual violence: a practice guide
 
The Daphne project 'Developing integrated responses to sexual violence: An interdisciplinary research project on the potential of restorative justice' has produced a practice guide entitled ‘Doing restorative justice for sexual violence’. This project was funded by the European Commission and it was was coordinated and recently concluded by the KU Leuven Institute of Criminology. Find here an overview of other research reports available on the EFRJ website.
 
 
 
 
9th International Conference of the EFRJ
 
The 9th International Conference of the EFRJ will take place in Leiden (The Netherlands) on 22-24 June 2016. The theme of next year will be: 'Realising Restorative Justice: Human Rights and Personal Realities'. More information will come soon. For now, save the dates and spread the poster!

On the first episode of Restorative Conversations, Ian Marder, founder of the Community of Restorative Researchers, interviews John Bailie and Ted Wachtel, the current and former presidents of the International Institute for Restorative Practices. They talk about their backgrounds, the work of their organisation in training and implementing restorative practice in schools, universities and criminal justice, and the future of restorative practice as a social movement and a new social science.
